Blog 1: Costa Rica
Hi
everyone! For the first blog of this semester I'm going to write about a country
I’d like to visit, and that’s Costa Rica! It has a tropical climate characterized
by high temperatures and abundant rainfall, which allows a wide variety of
plants, animals, insects and birds. It is also of considerable historical and
cultural interest due to its influences from South America, Spain and the
Caribbean.
There are mainly 2 reasons why I am interested in going, one of them
is the amount of fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants that grow in the
territory, which allows a healthy and sustainable diet, and the production of
natural medicines, which is very good. I love tropical fruits like mango,
passion fruit, guava and coconut, and the plants that give them grow in Costa
Rica.
The other reason is related to my studies, the amount of biodiversity,
especially birds, generates complex soundscapes in places furthest from cities,
such as natural sanctuaries or protected parks. It has been proven that these
soundscapes are good for human health, so I hope that when I visit Costa Rica I
can take the time to visit these places to be able to record these sounds,
study them and share them.
